Back in May, Xiaomi’s independent sub-brand Poco launched its Poco F2 Pro smartphone with flagship hardware such as a pop-up camera, Snapdragon 865 chipset, 64MP primary sensor, and much more. Initially, the smartphone was released with an Android 10 operating system with custom MIUI 12 skin on top. The Chinese smartphone maker is now updating Poco F2 Pro with the stable Android 11 based MIUI 12 software. For those who’re unaware, Poco kickstarted the beta testing of the software last month. It looks like the brand is now ready to roll out the stable version as few users have now reported the rollout.

Poco F2 Pro gets a stable Android 11 update globally!

According to a new report by XDA, Poco has now started rolling out the stable Android 11 update to a few users. The update carries the firmware version v12.2.1.0RJKMIXM. This build number clearly points towards the global version of MIUI. Apart from the latest version of Android, the update also brings the September 2020 Android security patch. While the update brings the latest Android to the table, Poco has missed out on the December or even November security patch. The stable Android 11 update weighs around 3.0GB in size. That is why we recommend updating your phone over stable WiFi connectivity.

Gizchina News of the week

Poco F2 Pro Android 11

If you own a global version of Poco F2 Pro, then you might have already received the update notification. If that’s not the case, then you can check for it manually by heading over to Settings>>About Phone>>MIUI Version. There is a slight chance that this might not work for certain users. It’s because Poco might be rolling out the stable Android 11 update in batches to make sure that there are no critical bugs present. If that’s the case, then you worry not as you will receive the update notification in the coming days. Alternatively, you can even sideload the update if you don’t mind tinkering with your device. Of course, there is a possibility of damaging your smartphone during the process if not done carefully.

With the new update, Poco has also focussed on enhancing the privacy protection feature. Of course, the update also includes all the Android 11 features such as chat bubbles, improved permissions handling, new gesture navigation, and more.
