Motorola made its comeback to the flagship segment last year with the Motorola Edge+. Now, the brand is preparing a new flagship entry dubbed Motorola Edge S, but it’s not exactly what we’ve expected. The device will pack the Snapdragon 870 SoC rather than the Snapdragon 888. This chipset can be considered a Snapdragon 865++, while it’s powerful, it still is slightly below the Snapdragon 888. The reason may be the price tag Motorola is targeting with the Motorola Edge S, previously known as Motorola Nio. The device will hit the Chines market on January 26 and is leaking a lot lately.
Today, a fresh leaked poster confirms the device’s Quad Camera design and confirms some of the color variants coming with the handset. The image was spotted by @TechnoAnkit1 and shows an alleged Motorola Edge S poster, probably part of the device’s promo material. The image looks like the marketing teaser that appears on a website. The poster confirms the launch date on January 26 at 19:30 Beijing Time.

The phone brings a Quad-Camera array and has at least two colorways
As aforementioned, the poster gives the first look at the rear of the Edge S. The device will have a Quad-Camera setup where the fours sensor is square-aligned, however, it does not come with a camera island as modern devices. We have just the camera holes, which makes the phone’s design quite unique in these days. Moreover, the device seems to be coming in White/Silver and Blue colorways.

Nils Ahrensmeier, who posted the live images of Motorola Nio a couple of weeks ago, revealed that the phone will come in Sky and Beryl colorways. The Edge S poster has similar colors where Sky probably is White/Silver and Beryl stands for the Blue color. Worth noting that this is a leaked poster, as Motorola has nothing to do with its publication. Interestingly, the post shows an array of circles with top-left four ones shaded in Blue teasing the layout.
The leaked images also show a power-embedded fingerprint scanner and volume buttons to the right. A power button fingerprint scanner makes us doubt that the phone is coming with an AMOLED display. Perhaps, it comes with an LCD panel to make it a little cheaper.
Motorola Edge S alleged specs
The phone will pack a 6.7-inch display with a very unusual 105Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it expected to bring a 64MP primary camera and a pill-shaped 16MP+8MP combo in the front. The device will pack the Snapdragon 870 and will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of Storage. The device will boot Android 11 straight out of the box.
