According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), sales of semiconductor components (chip sales) in the world continue to grow. In May, they increased by several percent compared to April, but if compared with the same period last year, the growth amounted to tens of percent.
Chip sales skyrocket more than 25% year-over-year and continue to grow
In May, microchips were sold in the world for $ 43.6 billion; an increase of 4.1% compared to the previous month. At the same time, in May 2020; components were sold only for 34.6 billion – 26.2% less than in the same month of this year.
Compared to last year, sales grew 31.2% in Europe, 30.9% in Asia Pacific (and all other countries), 26.1% in China, 20.9% in the Americas, up 20.4% in Japan. Compared to April, sales were up 5.9% in the Americas, 5.4% in China, 3.1% in Japan, 2.6% in Asia Pacific (all other countries) and 1% in Europe.
According to the Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers Industry (SEMI), demand will continue to be strong in both the medium and long term, given the growing demand for 5G communication technologies and 6G in the future, autonomous driving systems, artificial intelligence and other solutions requiring large computing power. According to statistics, in 2021 and 2022 alone, manufacturers around the world intend to build at least 29 new factories, including eight each in China and Taiwan, six in the Americas, three in Europe and the Middle East, and two each in Japan, and South Korea.

MediaTek’s flagship processor Dimensity 2000 to launch in the first half of 2022
MediaTek, according to network sources, has scheduled the announcement of a productive mobile processor Dimensity 2000; for smartphones of the highest price segment for the first or second quarter of next year.
According to some recent reports, TSMC will be engaged in the production of the product. In this case, 4-nanometer technology will be in use, and not 5-nanometer, as previously assumed.
According to the available data, the Dimensity 2000 will include several computing units. One of them will receive powerful Cortex-X2 cores; which in performance in single-threaded applications are about 16% superior to Cortex-X1 cores. Another unit will incorporate the Cortex-A710 cores: their performance is 10% higher in comparison with the Cortex-A78.
The graphics component of the Dimensity 2000 processor will use the Mali-G710 accelerator. In terms of performance, it outperforms Mali-G78 by about 20%.
Of course, the Dimensity 2000 will include an advanced modem with support for fifth generation (5G) cellular networks. The platform will provide support for high-resolution multi-module cameras and high refresh rate displays.
