OnePlus started its adventure in the mid-range segment last year with the OnePlus Nord. The original smartphone debuted in July and gave start to a whole lineup of mid-range smartphones. In October 2020, the company introduced the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 as a standard mid-range phone and a low-end handset. Back in the last month, these two devices were succeeded by the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the OnePlus Nord N200. Now, it’s time for the original OnePlus Nord to receive its long-awaited sequel. The OnePlus Nord 2 will debut on July 22 and the company decided to reveal its design today.
Today, OnePLus decide to confirm the smartphone’s rear panel and the camera module design. In addition to the design aspect, the teaser also confirms one of the two rumored colorways. The triple-camera setup on the OnePlus Nord 2 takes some inspiration from the OnePlus 9 design. It features two large circular cutouts and a small sensor placed inside the rectangular module. The LED flash also sits inside the camera module. At the center of the rear panel, we have the OnePlus Logo. This particular variant has a Bluish-green color finish. As per the leaks, this specific colorway will carry the Blue Haze moniker. The other colorway has a sober gray finish.
OnePlus Nord 2 alleged specifications
According to OnePlus, the primary camera on the OnePlus Nord 2 will be a 50 MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor. This particular module is used as an ultrawide camera on the regular OnePlus 9 series. Interestingly, this device will also bring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This was one of the features that made the OnePlus Nord stand against its competitors in the mid-range category. After all, OIS isn’t very common among mid-range smartphones. The OnePlus Nord 2 camera setup will also have an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP sensor. This third sensor is likely for macro shots or depth sensing. When it comes to selfies, the device will have a 32 MP Sony IMX616 front-facing camera. The module will live inside of a top-left aligned punch-hole.
As per the leaks, the OnePlus Nord will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI SoC. The device will come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of Internal Storage. This is a customized version of Dimensity 1200 with extra AI powers for performance, efficiency, and camera quality. The device will also come with a 4,500mAh battery and 65W fast charging. It will run OxygenOS 11.3 with Android 11.
