Tecno Pova 2 will go official in India on August 2

Transsion Holdings has been working hard to enhance its smartphone offering across international markets. The company is betting on the Tecno and Infinix brands to expand its image across global markets and India. Infinix is promising to bring a stunning device with 160W fast charging in the future. Meanwhile, Tecno is focusing in the entry-level segment and on the premium segment. Recently, Tecno introduced the Camon 17 and 17 Pro in India, now the company is gearing up to introduce the Tecno Pova 2 in the country.

Amazon India stepped up from teasers to an actual landing page that even discloses the phone’s launch date. Tecno will reveal the Pova 2 on August 2 next Monday. For now, it seems that Amazon India will be the exclusive retailer of the Tecno Pova 2. At least for this initial sale. The new smartphone will likely cost around INR 12,000 and INR 13,000.

The Tecno Pova 2 will reach India on August 2. The new model brings a considerable amount of improvements over its predecessor. The list includes a bigger 7,000 mAh battery. That’s right, Tecno will join the select list of smartphone companies that have broken up to the 7,000 mAh capacity mark. At the moment, I can only remember the Galaxy M71 having such battery capacity. The device will also come with a 48 MP main camera which is a big leap from the 13/16 MP in the original Pova.

Gizchina News of the week

Tecno Pova 2 key specifications

In terms of processing power, we’ll have the MediaTek Helio G85. Once again, Transsion is showing how its bonds with MediaTek are deep. The Helio G85 brings two ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 2 GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz. It also gets help from a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU which is clocked at 1 GHz. That’s quite a high clock for a GPU and will ensure decent performance on games. Of course, some demanding games will only work with medium settings.

The Tecno Pova 2 will pack a 6.9-inch display. It’s a common LCD with a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. Thankfully, users will have a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz. In the same way, the resolution of the panel hasn’t been disclosed. We can expect Full HD+ from a device with this chipset anyway. In case you’re wondering, the device will have a centered punch-hole.

The device comes with Android 11 straight out of the box and a 7,000 mAh battery leads the show. However, the 18W charging will take a couple of hours to completely charge this device through its USB C port.
