Apple, iPhone 13

Since the launch of the iPhone 13 series, there have been multiple issues associated with this series. Nevertheless, is not stopping customers from purchasing this device. According to Apple’s initial plans, it will produce 90 million new iPhone 13 units in the fourth quarter of this year. However, internal sources claim that due to chip shortages, Apple is likely to lower its production plan for the iPhone 13 series to 80 million units.

iPhone 13 series

As we all know, starting from the second half of 2020, there has been a shortage of chip supply worldwide. Over time, the shortage of chips has not been alleviated but has further intensified. The prices of various chips have risen again and again, and many companies have even suspended or reduced production due to “core shortage”.

Apple’s supplier, Broadcom provides the AFEM-8215 front-end module and BCM59365 wireless charging interface for the iPhone 13 series. Texas Instruments provides display power management ICs, flash LED drivers, array drivers, and repeaters. Broadcom and Texas Instruments are unable to provide enough parts, thus the total output of the iPhone 13 is low.

Chip foundries continue to extend the delivery time

According to Susquehanna Financial Group, the delivery time of the chip industry has risen for the ninth consecutive month. The iPhone 13 Pro series will not ship until about one month after. The arrival time of this series on retail stores will also delay.

In addition to the iPhone, there are reports that the MacBook shipments will also reduce. Ming-Chi Kuo reports that MacBook shipments are now lower by half due to chip shortages. However, on a global scale, Apple is least affected by the lack of cores.

This means that there is a general delay in the delivery of the iPhone 13 series.

Since the release of the iPhone 13 series, it has been plagued with a couple of issues. There have been reports of the Apple Watch unable to unlock the iPhone. Also, there are reports that the iPhone 13 series sometimes shows no SIM card, deletes images, has touch screen issues so on. In fact, there is also another bug that allows the charging icon to display even after disconnecting the device from the charger. This issue is common after charging the new iPhones with the wireless charger.
