Samsung Galaxy A13 to feature a 50MP camera

Galaxy A13

Samsung has revamped its smartphone business adding 5G to the mid-range and low-end segments. However, this is still a feature that won’t fit in all pocket sizes. The cheapest Samsung Galaxy A smartphone is the Galaxy A22 5G, but it can still be considered expensive for some users. To address this, Samsung is preparing terrain to introduce an even cheaper smartphone dubbed Galaxy A13. As the name suggests, the device will start the 2022 lineup of Galaxy A smartphones, which should bring devices like the A13, Galaxy A53, A73, and so on. The Galaxy A12 was introduced in November last year, therefore, we are expecting the A13 to come this month. This explains why so many leaks are popping out in the last few days.

According to a Korean publication, the Galaxy A13 will come with a 50 MP camera. The rest of the cameras will remain unchanged in comparison to the A12. It’s interesting to see the 50 MP camera here, apparently, this module is the “new 48 MP camera” for the low-end segments. After the trend that popularized in 2018, we may see more devices coming with the 50 MP module next year. Besides the new upgraded camera, Samsung should still stick with the other not-so-appealing sensors.

Galaxy A13 possible camera specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A12 reached the market with a new 48 MP main camera, an 5 MP ultrawide module, and a duo of 2 MP modules for macro and depth sensing. Curiously, some companies are started to leave the “multi-camera” arrangement behind. Instead of multiple cameras with not so useful features, some companies are empowering the main camera and the ultrawide modules. After all, these are the more useful cameras. However, the Galaxy A13 will not enter this trend. It’s a pity that Samsung will stick with a 5 MP ultrawide camera, which is below the average nowadays. Most companies are bringing ultrawide cameras with, at least, 8 MP resolution. With such low resolution, don’t expect crispy images with this sensor.

For selfies and video calls, the Galaxy A13 will keep the very same 8 MP front-facing snapper. The camera will fit inside of a waterdrop notch, or Samsung Infinity-U cutout. For now, it’s unclear if the Galaxy A13 will bring the usual two variants, or Samsung will go fully 5G in the next year. The 5G variant should bring the Dimensity 700 SoC which is found in the Galaxy A22 5G. The big difference is that Samsung will sell it at a lower pricing point with this handset. The device is also said to come with a Full HD+ display, and a huge battery.
