It was revealed that the Twitch app can now be installed on the Nintendo Switch handheld game console. To do this, just go to the official eShop digital content store and from there download the streaming application to your device.

Twitch app is now available on the Nintendo Switch

The Twitch app itself looks pretty simple. In it, users will find tabs “Home” with recommended broadcasts, “Browse” with broadcasts by specific games or categories, and “Search”. The new app is for content viewing only. You won’t be able to use it to organize your own streams.

Twitch for Nintendo has fewer features compared to the web or desktop app. The main innovation is that users can now watch Twitch broadcasts on the console screen or on the TV. To log into your Twitch account, you don’t have to enter your credentials using the console controls – you just need to scan the QR code from your smartphone, after which authorization in the console application will be performed automatically.

Note that the Switch’s streaming capabilities are still quite limited, although YouTube and Hulu are already available on the console. It is likely that other streaming apps such as Netflix will be adapted for the platform in the future. So keep in touch for more news regarding this subject.

Nintendo Switch sales collapse in Q3 due to chip shortages

Nintendo is forced to adjust its own forecast for sales of Switch game consoles downward. The reason lies in the uncertainties associated with the ongoing pandemic and the global shortage of electronic components.

In the third quarter of this calendar year, Nintendo managed to sell about 3.83 million Switch units. For comparison: a year earlier, sales were equal to 6.86 million units. In total, since the appearance of the device on the market, sales amounted to 92.87 million copies of various versions (Switch and Switch Lite).

In the current fiscal year, which runs from April 2021 to March 2022 for Nintendo, the company initially expected to sell 25.5 million Switch kits. But now the forecast is down by 1.5 million devices – to 24.0 million units.

At the same time, Nintendo has left the forecast for the volume of annual revenue at the same level. Moreover, the company raised its operating profit forecast by 4% over the previously expected figures. This is due to changes in exchange rates, as well as higher rates in the segment of games and other software.
