Vivo Y76 now available with Dimensity 700 and 50 MP camera system

Vivo has unveiled a new Y-series smartphone in Malaysia. As expected, the new device carries the Vivo Y76 moniker and enters the market as the latest 5G smartphone from Vivo. As usual, the Vivo Y-series is composed of mid-range specifications, and the Vivo Y76 isn’t an exception in this regard. The Vivo Y76 is quite familiar to the Y76s when it comes to the design language, however, the two smartphones are completely different in terms of specifications. The Vivo Y76 bears a tiny notch at the top of the display and a rectangular-shaped camera module on the back. The handset comes with a MediaTek chipset and you probably already know which chipset is.

Vivo Y76 comes with mid-range specifications offering a 5G network. Under the hood, it carries a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. For those unaware, this is MediaTek’s most basic 5G offering. It carries two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz plus six power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz. The chipset has a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU which can run modest games without any hassle. The handset will come paired with 8 GB of RAM which is an excellent amount for multi-tasking. Interestingly, Vivo is also bringing virtual RAM support for this handset. The device has 128 GB of Internal Storage and you can use 4 GB of it as virtual RAM.

Vivo Y76

The Vivo Y76 also has a micro SD card slot allowing you to further expand your memory capacity. The specifications come around a 6.58-inch IPS LCD with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,408 x 1,080 pixels. The screen’s notch houses a 16 MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video calls. The device also has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a screen with a peak brightness of 460 nits.

Moving around to the back, there is a triple-camera setup. The handset has a 50 MP primary camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The device also boasts a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. The lights are kept by a 4,100 mAh battery that has rapid charging with a 44 W rate. The Vivo Y76 runs Funtouch OS 12 but still has an Android 11 version in tow. The handset has Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, USB C, GPS, a 3.5 mm audio jack. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Y76 is now available in Malaysia with an MYR 1,299 price tag. The device is available in just two colorways – Midnight Space and Cosmic Aurora. For now, there aren’t plans for taking this device to other markets.
