Apple Watch Series 7

The hotly-anticipated Apple Watch SE 2nd generation is likely to launch next year, along with a rugged model designed for sports lovers. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth is gearing up for an imminent launch of the Apple Watch 2022 lineup. Despite the lack of an official confirmation, some reports claim that the Apple Watch SE second generation will go launch next year. Moreover, a rugged variant of the smartwatch is also likely to see the light of the day. The aforesaid rugged variant will target athletes and sports lovers.

As mentioned, Apple is still mum on its plan to launch the next Apple Watch SE. However, the word on the street is that the upcoming smartwatch will appeal to budget-conscious buyers. Moreover, it will boast an impressive array of additional fitness and health-centric features as compared to its predecessor, the original Apple Watch SE. The existing Apple smartwatch lineup includes the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 3, and the Apple Watch Series 7 models.

Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation, Rugged Sports Variant Launch

To recall, the original Apple Watch SE went official in September 2020. In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed that the Apple Watch SE second generation is currently in the research and development stage. Furthermore, there is a possibility that the next generation smartwatch could carry the Apple Watch SE 2 moniker. Regrettably, details about Apple’s upcoming smartwatch are still few and far between. However, earlier reports suggest that it will adopt a noticeably refreshed design and offer additional fitness and health-related features.

Aside from that, Apple is reportedly prepping to unveil a new rugged Apple Watch, designed exclusively for professional athletes and sports lovers. Furthermore, this rugged variant is likely to hit the store shelves alongside the 2nd Gen Watch SE. This is not surprising, considering that Apple has teamed up with Nike to develop the Apple Watch Series 7‌ special edition and SE models that have unique straps and a watch face. Moreover, the rugged Apple Watch will probably feature a more resistant case that can protect the wearable from accidental scratches, dents and even withstand falls.

What Else To Expect?

According to Gurman, the two Apple Watch SE models, and the Apple Watch Series 8 will be a significant upgrade to the Watch Series 7. The Watch Series 7 went official in October. Furthermore, an earlier report claims that the Apple Watch Series 8 will house a blood glucose sensor. The Apple Watch SE 2020 model targets consumers who aren’t willing to spend a lot of money on smart wearables. However, do not want to compromise on performance either. On the downside, the watch doesn’t offer key features. These include the ECG sensor, the SpO2 scanner, the electrical heart-rate sensor, and the always-on Retina display.

Moreover, it delivers superior connectivity to other Apple devices via a W3 wireless chip. The 40mm dial variant offers 324×394 pixels resolution. The 44mm variant, on the other hand, delivers a resolution of 368×448 pixels, with 1,000 nits of maximum brightness.
