Following the Huawei Mate 40E that debuted in March last year, today, the Huawei Mate 40 series welcomes a new member. Information on Huawei’s official mall reveals that Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G has been listed for purchase. This smartphone supports 5G full Netcom and the 8GB + 256GB model costs 6499 yuan ($1,028). This smartphone is also available in three colour options including bright black, glaze white, and secret silver colours.
Compared with Huawei Mate 40 Pro, the biggest change of the Huawei Mate 40E Pro is in the processor. The new phone comes with the Kirin 9000L 6-core processor which uses a 5nm process technology. The CPU’s main frequency is up to 3.13GHz and this device also uses a 22-core Mali-G78 GPU. Furthermore, it comes with a large-core + micro-core NPU architecture. In terms of specific parameters, Kirin 9000L adopts 1 x Cortex-A77 3.13GHz + 2 x Cortex-A77 2.54GHz + 3 x Cortex-A55 2.05GHz. The positioning of the CPU and GPU are lesser than the Kirin 9000.
In the camera department, this smartphone comes with a 50-megapixel wide-angle main camera. It also uses a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, a 13-megapixel super-sensing wide-angle lens, and a 3D deep-sensing lens. On the front, this device comes with a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens + a 3D deep-sensing lens.
To keep its lights on, this device comes with a 4400 mAh capacity battery that supports 66W wired super-fast charging. It also supports 50W wireless super-fast charging and pre-installs HarmonyOS 2.
Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000L chip
It is worth mentioning that some bloggers have previously stated that the Kirin 9000L is very rarely stocked. Netizens who need to change phones can do a quick squat with their hands this morning. On the whole, the Kirin 9000L maintains a similar architecture and CPU performance as the top version but has a relatively large simplified configuration in terms of GPU and NPU. Thus, the chip will also be slightly inferior in display and image performance. As for other configurations, it is reported that Huawei Mate 40E Pro will inherit the design and peripheral configuration of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro as a whole. Thus, the new smartphone will only change the core. This device is worth looking forward to.
As for the NPU that Huawei has always valued, the Kirin 9000L also has a simplified configuration. It retains only one NPU large core which is quite different from the top Kirin 9000. The Kirin 9000 has a combination of 2 large cores and 1 microcore.
