There have been a lot of speculations that Xiaomi and Leica will cooperate to build a new generation of imaging flagship. The smartphone to debut the Xiaomi – Leica camera may be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Now the cooperation between the two parties has been finalized. Earlier today, xiaomiui.net found traces of Leica in the MIUI album source code. Leica filters appeared in the MIUI album source code. This means that Xiaomi and Leica now have strategic cooperation. According to reports, the MIUI album will come with Leica filters. With these filters, users can freely take photos with “German flavor”.
The latest report coupled with previous speculations, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra with “Leica flavor” will debut in Q2 this year. The smartphone has joined the Leica imaging algorithm. It also supports 8K film master Leica video filters, Leica natural color, black and white filters, and so on.
Not only that, the Xiaomi imaging flagship has three cameras. The three cameras are the super-large bottom main camera, the ultra-wide-angle, and the periscope telephoto cameras. These cameras or at least one will support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
As we all know, the previous generation imaging flagship Mi 11 Ultra once dominated the DXOMARK list. Now that Xiaomi cooperates with Leica, the imaging will improve to a higher level. There is also a possibility that it will also dominate the DxOMark rating.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra previous speculations
Over the past few months, there have been several speculations regarding the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra. This smartphone will be the company’s high-end device with top specifications. The reports so far claim that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will come with a 6.7-inch QuadHD+ AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The LTPO not only reduces the power consumption, it also adjusts the frame rate intelligently. The advantage of lower power consumption is that it can bring longer battery life. Also, the LTPO display minimum refresh rate is 1Hz.
In the camera department, there are also reports that it will come with a Sony flagship sensor. The main camera should be a 50MP super-large bottom main camera. There should also be a 48MP periscope telephoto lens as well as a 48MP super wide-angle camera. Furthermore, this flagship device should use a 5x periscope super-telephoto camera.
The flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will power this device and it should come with a 4500 mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. It will also support up to 12 GB of RAM.
