Oppo A78 5G Announced – A Great Mid-Ranger for 2023

Oppo launched the A77s back in October of 2022. That phone got a lot of positive feedback. And seeing all this, Oppo decided to amp up its mid-range game 2023. It is now back with the Oppo A78 5G, which will first debut in Malaysia. And later down the line, the device is expected to make its way to the Indian market.

Nonetheless, the elephant of the room is whether the Oppo A78 5G is worth the money. Or is it just another mid-range device that does not deserve any of your attention? Let’s find out.

You will find a 6.56-inch IPS LCD on the front of the device, which sports an HD+ screen resolution. To keep up with the competition, Oppo has decided to utilize a fast 90 Hz panel for the A78 5G. And that will definitely make the UI look and feel a lot smoother.

Other than that, the front houses an 8 MP front-facing camera. That sensor is housed within a water-drop notch. And it should do a good job of handling all your selfie and video calling needs.

On the rear, you have a dual-ring design. This dual-ring design of the Oppo A78 5G comes with a 50 MP primary camera and a 2 MP depth sensor.

And under the hood of the Oppo A78 5G, you have a Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset. Oppo paired the SoC with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage. Most importantly, there is a microSD card slot, which will allow further storage expansion.

You will be well amazed at the battery life of the Oppo A78 5G. It houses a 5000 mAh battery that has 33W fast charging support. And when it comes to the software, the phone comes with ColorOS 13, which is based on Android 13.

For those who are interested, the Oppo A78 5G will come in two colorways: Glowing Purple and Glowing Black. The company is yet to announce the official pricing. But we will soon be able to find out all about it on January 14, when it will officially enter the Indian and Malaysian markets. And overall, the specs of the phone are looking pretty strong.
