Motorola Edge 40 Pro passes by Geekbench with 12GB RAM

Motorola X40

Motorola once again managed to be among the first brands to launch a phone with Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC. Back in December last year, the brand introduced the Moto X40. As usual, the X-series is expected to be rebranded to the Edge series across global markets. According to the rumors, the Moto X40 will get a rebrand-treatment soon and will become Motorola Edge 40 Pro. This rumored flagship has just been spotted on the Geekbench database.

The specifications of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro are not exactly a mystery. However, it’s good to see Geekbench confirming the theories. The phone packs the “rtwo” motherboard which stands for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU. The phone scored 1,480 in the single-core score, and 4,889 points in the multi-core department. Worth noting that this score is based on the Geekbench 5 and not on the latest Geekbench 6.

The Geekbench score shows the Motorola Edge 40 Pro with 12 GB of RAM, which is likely the higher model. The Moto X40 has a base option with 8 GB of RAM, so we expect the Edge 40 Pro to also be sold in this configuration. The X40 sells 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB storage trims. We are curious to see if all three options will reach the global markets. Last but not least, the phone runs Android 13, but that is not exactly a big surprise.

Since we already know what the Motorola X40 has in tow, it’s not hard to guess the Motorola Edge 40 Pro specs. The phone will likely retain the 6.5-inch OLED panel with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The resolution is not the highest among flagships, but the refresh rate is super impressive at 165Hz. In fact, while other brands pursue resolution, Motorola is offering a refresh rate that we can only find among gaming phones.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro will pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The phone has a triple-camera array with a 50 MP main camera with OIS, 50 MP ultrawide, and 12 MP telephoto snapper with 2x optical zoom. There is also a 60 MP selfie shooter, and a 4,600 mAh battery with 125W fast wired charging.

For now, there is no official word on the Moto Edge 40 Pro release, but we’re expecting something for the MWC 2023. Worth noting, that a Motorola Edge 40 will likely tag alongside.
