Apple Music Classical app is now available on Android


Apple acquired Primephonic, a classical music streaming service, in August 2021. The acquisition is seen as a move by Apple to expand its reach into the classical music market. Not much later, Apple released the Apple Music Classical app for iPhones in March. The app is now available on the Google Play Store for Android smartphones.

The Android app for Apple Music Classical mirrors the design of its iOS counterpart. Notably, the Android app is available before the iPad and Mac versions. Android users can download the app from the Google Play Store. But you need to make sure the device is running Android version 9 or later.

You can gain access to Apple Music Classical via Apple Music or Apple One subscriptions. That means you can technically enjoy the Classical app at no cost. But if you are planning to buy one, individual subscriptions cost $10.99 per month. Whereas, the family subscriptions cost $16.99 per month.

Apple Musical Classical app offers ad-free listening to over five million classical musical tracks. There are hundreds of curated playlists, and thousands of exclusive albums users can enjoy. Its app interface is also quite easy to use. And unlike the Apple Music app, it also lets you search by composer, work, conductor, catalog number, and more. They can also get more detailed information from editorial notes and descriptions.

Moreover, the app supports high-quality audio and can stream music in up to 129KHz and 24-bit Hi-Res Lossless mode. There’s also support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos for select tracks. Apple has also commissioned high-resolution digital portraits of famous composers for the app. Some of the famous artists for portraits are Ludwig van Beethoven, FrĂ©dĂ©ric Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach. The portraits use color palettes and artistic references from the relevant classical period. The more unique artwork will be added over time.
