Vivo X100 series tipped to debut with LPDDR5T DRAM

With the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the nearing release of Dimensity 9300, chipset manufacturers are ready for the next generation of flagship smartphones. In the background, smartphone makers are already working on bringing their new flagship devices. Xiaomi works on the Xiaomi 14, OnePlus on the OnePlus 12, and Vivo is working on the Vivo X100 series. The latest iteration of the Vivo X100 series is coming soon and, once again, we expect massive improvements in the camera technology. However, the new flagships will also see improvements in other aspects like the DRAM technology.

The name stands for Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo and offers up to 9.6 Gbps operating speeds which is 12.5% faster than the LPDDR5X DRAM standard found on current flagships. With the new technology, the Vivo X100 series will be faster than current smartphones and more efficient in multi-tasking. According to SK Hynix, it’s not exactly a new generation, but still it’s a big improvement for the current technology. The technology was introduced earlier this year, and should also appear in AI and AR/VR products.

Vivo X100

The Vivo X100 series will consist of the Vivo X100, X100 Pro and X100 Pro+. They will see both of the top-end flagship chipsets, MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9300 and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with the Dimensity version boasting support for the new LPDDR5T DRAM standard. All vivo X100 phones will also come with support for UFS 4.0 storage and will have ZEISS optics with Vivo’s latest take in image stabilization.

The Vivo X90 series launched in the end of the last year, so we expect the Vivo X100 to appear in the end of this year as well.
