Manufactured on the same 4nm TSMC N4 process, the 8250 boasts a solid octa-core CPU configuration. It features four high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores, with one primary core clocked at 3.1 GHz and three others at 3.0 GHz. For efficiency in handling background tasks, the chipset integrates four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2.0 GHz.

The graphics processing is entrusted to the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, a capable solution for navigating demanding applications and games. Further enhancing the user experience, the Dimensity 8250 supports high refresh rate displays. Users can choose between FHD+ displays with a smooth 180Hz refresh rate or opt for sharper QHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a visually captivating experience.

On the memory front, the 8250 allows smartphone manufacturers to equip devices with up to 6400Mbps quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM, enabling exceptional data transfer speeds. Additionally, support for UFS 3.1 storage translates to faster app loading times and overall system responsiveness.

The integrated image signal processor (ISP) offers impressive capabilities. It facilitates HDR processing in 14-bit and can manage high-resolution sensors, including a single 320MP sensor or a triple-camera configuration with three 32MP sensors each. This translates to exceptional image quality and detail capture. Furthermore, the chipset supports 2x lossless zoom, ensuring crisp close-up shots when paired with a high-resolution main sensor.

Additionally, videography enthusiasts will appreciate the 4K video recording capability at 60fps. The chipset boasts built-in AV1 decoding at up to 4K resolution, a timely feature considering YouTube’s adoption of the AV1 codec for enhanced video compression. The display adapter supports HDR10+ Adaptive for vibrant visuals. And the integrated AI capabilities enable real-time SDR-to-HDR conversion and video noise reduction.

Also, connectivity remains a strong suit of the Dimensity series. The 8250 features a 5G modem capable of downlink speeds of up to 4.7Gbps. Ensuring users can leverage the next generation of cellular data networks. Local connectivity is well-equipped with three-band Wi-Fi 6E for high-speed wireless networking and Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio for seamless audio experiences.

So, the MediaTek APU 580 neural processing unit (NPU) is incorporated for on-device AI processing. This efficient NPU is optimized for short bursts of activity, contributing to improved thermal management and power efficiency.

The Dimensity 8250 will make its debut in smartphones soon. The Oppo Reno12, launching on May 23rd, will be the first device to feature this chipset. It’s important to note that the higher-end Oppo Reno12 Pro will utilize the more powerful “Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition” chipset.

In conclusion, the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 presents a compelling option for smartphone manufacturers seeking a refined mid-range chipset. It delivers a balance of processing power, display support, camera capabilities, and connectivity features. Making it a suitable choice for users seeking a capable and feature-rich mobile experience.
