So, here we go again. Another phone. Another record-breaking spec. Another razor-thin promise. Infinix is prepping to launch its Hot 60 Pro+, a follow-up to the 6.8mm Hot 50 Pro+ — and this one’s set to slip in under 6mm. Specifically, 5.95mm, if the leak from Ice Universe holds up. That’s thin. Really thin. Arguably too thin?
Yes, It’s Slim. But Let’s Not Get Carried Away
We’ve seen this playbook before. Brands chase superlatives — thinnest, lightest, first of its kind. But a phone this slim? It instantly raises a few flags. For starters: battery life, durability, and — perhaps more importantly — practicality.
Sure, it looks great in photos. Ice Universe posted a few shots, and the phone is undeniably sleek. It’s also curved, which helps visually reduce its bulk even further. Side-by-side with a standard iPhone (I think it was a 15?), it makes Apple’s design look, well, a little bloated. At least on camera.
But let’s not pretend Infinix is playing in the same league as Apple. The Hot series has always targeted a different user — more budget-conscious, less spec-obsessed. And yet, this move into ultra-thin territory feels… ambitious? Maybe unnecessarily so.
A Trend Nobody Asked For?
Samsung already took a swing with the 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple’s rumored to be cooking up something even slimmer — the iPhone 17 Air at 5.5mm. So yes, Infinix isn’t alone in this pursuit. But is there demand?
Honestly, I’m not convinced. Most users I talk to care more about battery life and comfort than shaving off half a millimeter. We’ve been here before — remember the Moto Z? The Oppo R5? Beautiful, yes. Practical? Not so much. They overheated. Batteries were mediocre. Cases didn’t fit right. And yet, here we are again.
Design Over Substance?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dismissing it outright. I actually respect Infinix for trying something bold with the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+. It’s easy to follow trends, harder to create visual impact on a tight budget. But ultra-thin phones are a gamble. Once you’re under 6mm, you have to start sacrificing. Likely battery, possibly cooling, maybe even antenna performance.
The leaked images don’t give us much beyond the silhouette. We can see a triple camera setup on the back — fairly standard. Nothing siginificant in the lens department, at least from what I can tell. The modules do protrude a bit, which is expected when you shrink the body but keep optics large. It’s a trade-off that’s hard to avoid.
Infinix Hot 60 Pro+: So Who Is This For?
Maybe this is Infinix’s way of signaling a new design language. Or maybe it’s just a marketing headline. Either way, it’ll catch eyes — especially in markets where style still sells over specs. I just hope they haven’t cut too deep into the battery. Or thermals. Or structural integrity.
But I’ll wait. Maybe it’ll surprise me. Then again, maybe it’ll just be another beautifully thin phone that nobody remembers six months from now.
