WhatsApp’s New Feature Lets You Control Status Resharing

WhatsApp Share

WhatsApp is testing an exciting new feature in its Android beta version that gives users more control over who can share their status updates. The latest beta update, version 2.25.18.9, introduces a setting that lets you decide if others can reshare your status posts. This update changes how status content spreads on WhatsApp while keeping user privacy a priority.

How the Status Resharing Feature Works

Previously, WhatsApp status updates couldn’t be shared by others unless the original poster was specifically mentioned. The new update changes this by adding a toggle that lets you enable or disable resharing for each status you post. When creating a new status, an option is found that allows forwarding. By default, this setting remains turned off, meaning your status stays private unless you choose to make it shareable.

Advantages of Controlled Resharing

It gives others the option to share your status can help spread your message faster and to a larger audience. This feature is useful if you want to share important news, viral posts, or promote your business. However, you stay in control because you decide if you want your status to be shared. This allows you to keep personal posts private while sharing public information more freely.

Strong Privacy Protections Remain

WhatsApp has made sure that privacy stays protected even when statuses are shared. If someone receives a forwarded status, they won’t see your name or phone number unless they already have you saved in their contacts. Also, notifications about who forwarded your status are limited. If your status is shared multiple times, only the most recent person who forwarded it will appear in the alerts. This helps avoid overwhelming notifications.

At the moment, the American company has made it known that this new feature will be available to only a handful of beta testers operating WhatsApp on the Android OS. This new option might already be available to Users enrolled in the beta program through the Google Play Store. As more progressive development is carried out in the new feature, WhatsApp is expected to make the feature available to users globally.
