OnePlus unveiled the first OnePlus Watch 3 earlier this year, most precisely in February, with a 46mm size. Back then, some potential consumers missed the option for a smaller variant with the conventional 43mm size. Nearly seven months later, the company is about to feed up this demand with a new, smaller OnePlus Watch 3 model featuring the 43mm size. The new variant will be revealed on July 8, and OnePlus isn’t holding secrets for the launch date. Ahead of the launch, OnePlus is confirming some of the features and the color options for the new member of the OnePlus Watch 3 family.
The OnePlus Watch 3, with a 46mm version, boasts a 1.5-inch screen. Now, the newer model will drop this size for a 1.32-inch screen, which is a common footprint for smartwatches nowadays. The device will be lighter than its sibling with just 36.8 grams, more than 10 grams lighter than the 46mm model and its 49.7 grams weight. Furthermore, the OnePlus Watch 3 with a 43mm size will boast a stainless-steel body, selling in Black Steel and Silver Steel colors. Both will include an upgraded “Mind & Body Evaluation” feature. As per the company, the watch’s “real-time barometer” is able to “evaluate your body’s level of fatigue every 30 minutes”.
OnePlus Watch 3 – Possible Specifications
More details regarding the features, pricing, and availability for the OnePlus Watch 3 43mm size will be revealed on July 8. As far as the specifications are concerned, we should expect something similar to what the OnePlus Watch 3 currently has. The 46mm variant has a 1.5-inch panel with a 466×466 pixels resolution. The new variant will have a smaller screen, but could keep the resolution for a higher pixel density. Another bet is on a lower 432×432 resolution. Regardless of the resolution, we expect the same Sapphire Crystal Glass protection atop the display. Other similarities probably include the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of Storage. The watch will run ColorOS Watch 7.0 above Wear OS 5. We also expect dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, Full GPS support, NFC, heart rate, SpO2, and skin temperature sensors.
While the 46mm has a 648 mAh battery with 7.5W wired charging support, the 43mm is likely dropping this capacity. It’s hard to guess the exact number now, but considering the lower weight and the size, OnePlus certainly had to shrink this capacity to fit the new body. As said before, full details will come on July 8.
Interestingly, the Watch 3 is also available in some regions as Oppo Watch X2. We are curious to see if the X2 will also get a new size soon.
