HTC has announced a new addition to its mid-range Desire series of smartphones. Dubbed the HTC Desire 12S, the new entrant is a somewhat mild upgrade of the HTC Desire 12 launched alongside the Desire 12+ at the beginning of the year.

The upgrade comes in forms of a slightly bumped display size, increased battery capacity as well as an upgrade in the front-facing selfie camera. Unlike the HTC Desire 12, the desire 12s flaunts a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display, and has ditched the MediaTek SoC for a Snapdragon 435 with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable using microSD.

The device retains the 13MP rear camera found in the HTC Desire 12 but has swapped the 5MP sensor on the front for a similar 13MP sensor. The device unfortunately still boot  8.1 (Oreo) with HTC Sense UI out of the box, while the battery received a huge upgrade from 2730mAh to 3075mAh battery, surpassing that of the HTC Desire 12+.
