Chipset maker Qualcomm has just updated its 200-series chipset with the unveiling of the Snapdragon 215 mobile platform. The chipset is the first 64-bit processor in the 200 series, what is more, it brings some first of its kind features to the series. The essence is to give live to the ultra-affordable smartphone which before now comes majorly with lackluster specs.
The Chipset according to Qualcomm is about 50 percent faster than the SD 212, and that speed can be felt when zipping around your OS or opening and closing apps. Unlike the SD 212 with ARM A7 cores, the SD 215 packs a 64-bit CPU with four ARM Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 1.3GHz and is fabricated using the 28nm process. And inside is an integrated Hexagon DSP and Adreno 308 GPU which brings about 28% bump in gaming performance.
The new Snapdragon 215 raises the bar for the entry-level segment by offering support for taller aspect ratio with up to 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 1560Ć720 pixels resolutions. - First off, this is the first Snapdragon 200-series chip based on 64-bit ARM architecture. Google has already mandated 64-bit for all apps by August 2019.
