Apple to launch a foldable iPhone and smart glasses in 2027

The 2027 Apple lineup will come with some major and interesting updates. As usual, the company will release its iPhones, iPads and Macs, however, it will also launch a couple of new devices that will be hitting the market for the first time – this is the foldable iPhone and its first-ever smart glasses.

Foldable iPhone expected with new display tech

Given that foldable smartphones have been in the market since 2019, Apple is already six years late. The foldable iPhone will no doubt be the protagonist of Apple’s launches in 2027. According to tech reporter Mark Gurman, this device will feature a 7.8-inch main display with a “nearly invisible” crease. This is made possible by a special panel designed by Samsung Display, which Apple will use exclusively. The foldable iPhone will likely compete with foldables from Samsung, Google, and others, but the smoother design and hidden crease may give Apple an edge.

To celebrate 20 years of the iPhone, Apple plans to launch a redesigned iPhone Pro model. The iPhone 19 Pro will use a lot of glass in its construction and have a curved body design. For the first time, Apple will also remove all display cutouts, meaning Face ID sensors and the front camera will be placed under the display. This could give the iPhone 19 Pro a clean, uninterrupted screen.

Apple smart glasses to debut in 2027

Another major product expected is Apple’s first smart glasses. These will be similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and will come with built-in Apple Intelligence features. The smart glasses will include several cameras and support “Visual Intelligence,”. This allows the device to understand what the wearer is seeing and possibly respond to it.

Alongside the smart glasses, Apple is also working on adding cameras to future AirPods and Apple Watch models. These cameras would support Visual Intelligence functions as well. Although it’s not clear what exact features these will offer, they could be used for tasks like gesture control, object recognition, or even capturing short videos or images.
