Xiaomi Is Preparing Three New Redmi Note 15 Phones — But One Isn’t Leaving China

Xiaomi is reportedly working on three new Redmi Note 15 models, internally codenamed Lapis, Kunzite, and Coral. If leaks are to be believed—and they often are when this many details surface—two of these will see a global launch. The third one won’t.

According to early intel, Lapis and Kunzite are being positioned for international markets, while Coral will remain China-only. No formal announcement yet, but this lines up with Xiaomi’s pattern of testing localized models in its home market or offering region-specific features not intended for global release.

Specs Still a Mystery, But Not Entirely

We don’t have full specs. Not yet. That said, rumors point to the expected: Redmi Note 15 5G and Note 15 Pro 5G. Given Xiaomi’s usual cadence, you can almost predict the basics—large battery, MIUI atop Android 16, and some variation of a mid-range MediaTek or Snapdragon chipset.

Most likely, they’ll start around $180 to $250 USD, depending on configuration and region. 5G is all but certain. A bump in camera hardware wouldn’t be surprising either, though Xiaomi tends to save the big leaps for its higher-end lines.

Why Coral Might Stay Local

The China-only model, Coral, could be tailored for local tastes—possibly in terms of software, network bands, or bundled services. Xiaomi has done this before, sometimes rebranding these models later for other markets. Still, it’s unclear whether Coral is a permanent exclusive or just launching in China first.

What’s Next?

If Xiaomi follows form, certification filings for the Redmi Note 15 series models, should start appearing within the next few weeks. Official teasers tend to follow. With timing like this, a full reveal sometime in late Q2 or early Q3 feels likely. So far, nothing about these phones seems radical. But in Xiaomi’s case, that’s not a bad thing. They know how to tune the formula—and sell millions doing it.
