GMKtec Launches NucBox K16 Mini PC with AMD Ryzen 7 Power and OCuLink Expansion

GMKtec has officially announced the launch of the NucBox K16, a high-performance mini PC aimed at power users, content creators, and enthusiasts who want desktop-level performance in a compact form factor. Despite its small size, the NucBox K16 is built around modern AMD hardware and offers expansion options rarely seen in this category.

At the center of the system is the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, an 8-core, 16-thread processor based on the Zen 3+ architecture. Manufactured on a 6 nm process, the chip can boost up to 4.75 GHz while maintaining relatively efficient power consumption. Graphics duties are handled by the integrated Radeon 680M, which features 12 compute units running at up to 2200 MHz. This combination makes the NucBox K16 suitable for demanding productivity tasks, creative workloads, multitasking, and light gaming without the need for a dedicated GPU.

Obviously, the memory and storage are clear priorities in this design. Even amidst the memory shortages, GMKtec equips the NucBox K16 with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory clocked at 6400 MHz. It grants smooth performance in memory-heavy applications. The storage is handled through two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, each supporting drives up to 8 TB. This setup provides ample room for large media libraries, development environments, or professional datasets.

OCuLink Expansion, Wi-Fi 6E and More

One of the standout features is the inclusion of an OCuLink expansion interface, which allows high-bandwidth external connections, such as supported external GPUs. GMKtec notes that OCuLink does not support hot swapping and should only be connected or disconnected while the system is powered off to avoid potential hardware damage.

Connectivity options are extensive for a device of this size. The NucBox K16 supports multi-display output up to 8K resolution via HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB4. Networking includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports, catering to both wireless and high-speed wired setups.

The system is housed in a CNC-machined aluminum chassis with a sandblasted anodized finish. Measuring just 107 × 111 × 56 mm, the compact enclosure is designed to balance thermal performance with a premium look and feel.

The Front I/O includes a power button, OCuLink port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB-C USB4 port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and an onboard digital microphone. The rear panel adds two more USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports, and a 120 W DC power input.

Pricing and Availability Details

The GMKtec NucBox K16 launches today with pricing starting at $679.99 for the 32 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD configuration, and $729.99 for the 1 TB SSD variant. Both models include a free 30W USB-C PD power adapter. Availability begins through GMKtec’s official store, with wider distribution across Amazon and other regional marketplaces expected within the next two to three weeks.
