Lenovo's entry into the Snapdragon 800 race for last year, the Vibe Z is now getting some
KitKat treatment thanks to an OTA update.
It seems as though the Chinese maker is seeding the update only in
Malaysia for now. Worry not, it shouldn't take long before other markets get the update as well; it is a common practice for OEMs to seed OTA updates market by market so as to avoid server overload. This especially sounds like a good idea in this case, because the download measures a massive 1.2GB in size!
The Lenovo Vibe Z comes with a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and a 13 mega-pixel / 5 mega-pixel camera combo, and an update to a more recent, optimized
Android iteration should definitely give the device a bump in performance. Of course it perhaps won't be as pronounced as on other lesser-powered
phones due to the superior hardware, but that doesn't mean you don't give it a shot.
Let us know if you are based in a country other than Malaysia and if you receive the update.
