Yesterday morning Meizu announced a delay in the shipping of their Indiegogo founded Gravity floating speaker which had to be delivered this month. The said speaker will instead get shipped in the first quarter of next year.
[su_quote cite="Gravity Team"]Dear Gravity backers, First, we would like to thank all of you for your patient waiting. We are sorry to announce that the mass production time of Gravity has no choice but to be delayed for the reason of seven-time mould modification. It is expected that Gravity will be delivered in the first quarter of 2017. We need to be responsible for the projection delay. However, our only goal is to make Gravity more and more perfect. In the final days of the project, please give us some time and understanding, and we will prove that Gravity is worthy of your trust. [/su_quote]
The Gravity floating speaker campaign was launched back in May 2016 on the U.S. crowd sourcing website Indiegogo. The speak has been created by the Japanese designer Tsuboi Hiroshi and is supposed to be part of a design ecosystem, which obviously won't be happening any soon.
Meizu's product manager briefly explained that the delay is due to problems in production, although they have scrapped 7 molds during the manufacture, they still can't achieve the desired result. They also had issues with hardware supplies that did not do their job properly and lead to this disappointing end.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Have you backed this campaign or any other that did not end well? Let us know in the comments below.
