Early this year, we had the issue of WPA2 being cracked by KRACK. Many manufacturers swung into action to get a solution for this problem. WPA2 network security protocol became increasingly susceptible to KRACK (Key Reinstallation Attack) and put Wi-Fi users at risk.
Subsequently, Wi-Fi Alliance announced the launch of the WPA3 encryption protocol. WPA3 stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access 3, the third-generation wireless network security standard. The main changes are the increase from 128-bit to 192-bit security suite, the ability to assign different keys to devices, and the ability to use mobile phones/tablets as smart devices for easier access. Wait. The popularization of WPA3 requires a process, which also faces the compatibility problems of new and old devices. Now, Qualcomm has announced that it will fully begin to support WPA3 on its Snapdragon 845 chip and the recently launched 2x2 802.11ax-ready solution for client devices, the WCN3998, and IPQ807x AP platform.
With this, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 will be the first mobile chip to support WPA3 and this feature is scheduled to arrive this summer.
