Recently, ZTE and Slovakian mobile operator, SWAN Mobile, successfully did the first 5G video call in Slovakia. There was also the testing of a variety of industrial applications using the 5G network. This is a milestone for Slovakian 5G commercialization. The 5G service demonstration uses a 5G system network based on the 3GPP R15 protocol. It covers ZTE's 5G end-to-end products and solutions such as wireless access, core network, and mobile phones. SWAN Mobile CTO used ZTE's latest AXON 10 Pro 5G flagship mobile phone to open the first 5G video call in Slovakia. Live media reporters and a large audience witnessed the 5G video call effect.
In addition to the 5G video call, they also showed the 5G peak rate, 8-channel HD live video, VR video and drone services. The on-site measured 5G single-user peak rate is stable at 1Gbps, reaching the theoretical value. The 360° camera and drone capture high-definition video, 5G real-time upload, and multi-channel live video are clear and smooth. This demonstration shows the high rate and low latency of the 5G network. SWAN Mobile CEO, Roman Vavrik said: "The 5G era has arrived. Slovakia has issued a 5G license. We hope to provide Slovak users with leading 5G applications and services as soon as possible with ZTE."
Previously, on May 31, 2019, SWAN Mobile and ZTE officially signed a 5G commercial contract. Up to now, ZTE has obtained 25 5G commercial contracts worldwide, covering major 5G markets such as China, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East, and has cooperated with more than 60 operators around the world.
