Tech giant – Google seems to have one or two Pixel 2 related problems on its hands, but it is not yet clear if or not the issue is a major one to worry about or if it will affect a larger batch of Pixel phones.
Over the past week, there have been a series of reports from users and reviewers of the Pixel 2 phones making 'clicking and high pitch frequency sounds. Specifically, here is exactly how some affected users put it on Pixel official support forum:
"Whenever the phone is unlocked, I can hear a constant ticking (like the second hand of a watch) if the phone is against my ear. Doesn't happen when the screen is off, or when the screen is on but the phone is locked."
In a bid to abate the reported problem, some Users after trying out basic factory reset and accessing the safe mode to no avail suggested that turning off the NFC feature appeared to have dwindled the clicking sound problem, but the device continues to make high pitched whining noise.
While Google is yet to officially issue a statement on the reported issues, a Google employee and official Pixel forum manager have confirmed Google is already looking into the reports of some pixel phones having the 'clicking and high pitch frequency sounds. He, however, said the number of affected users are minute, and even assured users that the clicking noise cannot in any way hamper the performance of your device beyond the audible noise. While investigation goes on, He further provided an interim solution: we suggest temporarily turning off NFC (used by apps like Android Pay) in Settings > Connected devices > NFC.

Currently reported incidents are more for Pixel 2 users, but a few number of Pixel 2 XL users also claim to have such issue, however, it is an issue that should be nipped in the bud.
