Chinese phone companies don't always get the price to specification ratio quite right, take the Kente KT998W for example it costs $257 but packs just 512mb
RAM! And there's more!
We get spoilt for choice from
Chinese phone companies, and if you have around $160 to spend on a
device you can easily pick up a
quad-core phone, with at least 1GB
RAM and 5-inch
1080 display from a number of different companies.
Not all manufacturers are so generous though. Shenzhen
LCD manufacturer Kente has seen the domestic
phone market grow and has decided to jump on the bandwagon with the
quad-core Kente KT998W.
With a
quad-core MT6589 CPU and 5-inch
display things start of well, but taking a closer look we can see some serious issues with this $257
phone.
First up is the fact the
display is a very low resolution
WVGA 800 x 480 unit, then there is only 512MB
RAM and the overall size is quite big with the
phone measuring 10.5mm thick!
Cameras are a little 'last year' too as the rear is an 8 mega-pixel unit rather than a 13mp sensor. It's hard to see who the KT998W is aimed at. Tech savvy Chinese phone buyers will likely want to spend less on a JiaYu or UMi phone, while regular shoppers are going to head for Huawei, Lenovo and HTC at this price!
