As promised
Beidou released the Beidou
Big K for
preorder today at the low price of just $128, and we finally get to see what this
phone has to offer for such a low price.
For those of you
new to the
Chinese phone scene you may not realise but this is actually the 2nd generation version of the
Beidou Big. The
original phone launched last year with a 5-inch
display and dual-core MT6577
processor.
Those of you familiar with the
original Big K are going to feel right at home with the
new version. The
new Beidou
Big K get's a more powerful 1.2Ghz
quad-core processor and a bump in RAM from 512mb to 1GB, however the rest of the spec remains in the past.
The 5-inch
display is an FWVGA unit (854 x 480), the
rear camera is an 8 mega-pixel unit, although it does offer interpolation to 13MP, and internal memory remains the same at 4GB.
Oh, you also get
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on installed on the
new phone, but that's about it. For the mont the Beidou
Big K is actually pretty good value for money, however as
Chinese phone manufacturers keep spoiling us it's hard to see this
phone as such a bargain when the
Neo N003 will cost just slightly more at $144 but boasts a
new design,
1080 display and 13 mega-pixel camera!
