Lu Weibing: Redmi's future products will consider IP68 dustproof and waterproof support

The Redmi K30 Pro series was released on March 24. This series comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and starts at $426 (standard version, 6GB + 128GB). Its waterproof level is IP53, which can withstand the splash and droplets. However, IP53 is not for underwater activities like swimming and underwater photography. Yesterday evening, Lu Weibing, vice president of Xiaomi Group, and general manager of Redmi said on Weibo, "Redmi K30 Pro supports IP53, which is enough to cope with splash-proof. I think IP68 is not needed". However, it appears that his view is not so popular amongst fans. The feedback on the post shows that a good chunk of commenters needs the IP68 rating.

After receiving feedback from netizens, Lu Weibing said: "Since everyone likes IP68 so much, we will also consider it for future products."

In addition to supporting IP53, Redmi's latest smartphone, Redmi K30 Pro comes with a 60Hz Samsung AMOLED screen. It also uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 3435 mm² VC heat sink and linear motor, retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and supports infrared remote control.
