Zopo ZP900 Leader Price Confirmed $299.99 Review Soon!

We finally get a confirmed price for the rather large (but not too large) Zopo ZP900 Leader, and I still have to say for the cost I’m not too upset by the screen resolution!

The Zopo ZP900 Leader is Zopo’s first phone to feature the rather wonderful dual-core MTK MT6577 CPU running at 1.0Ghz and it will be available fairly soon for the pretty great price of only $299.99, although not everyone is in agreement that tie ZP900 is worthy of this price tag.

So what is it that some possible large screen phone shopper don’t like about the 5.3 inch Zopo ZP900 Leader?

Zopo ZP900 Leader Highlights

Well the highlights are really quite good (in my opinion!) there is the super popular dual-core MTK M6577 1.0 Ghz CPU and 1GB RAM running the show, Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich with an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update on the way. The rear camera an 8 mega-pixel unit with LED flash which, judging by the ZP300 Pilot should produce great photos, and the front camera is rather good at 2 mega-pixels!

As you would expect this 5.3 inch Android smartphone has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Dual-sim which is all housed in a Galaxy Note/S3 inspired body in your choice of either black or white!

Gizchina News of the week

zopo zp900 leader price china

So what are the not so hot features?

The main critisim of the Zopo ZP900 Leader’s specification lie in the rather large 5.3 inch QHD screen and it’s lack of resolution. While no one has yet to have any hands on time with the ZP900 some Chinese phone fans are concerned that the 960 x 540 resolution won’t be enough for that vast display.

What do you guy’s think is the screen resolution that much of a problem? Could the Zopo ZP900 Leader become the Chinese phone equivolent of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Im surely gonna order one. However, a video review would surely help. Guess I’d rather wait a couple of weeks and make a well-informed decision instead of an impulsive one. 960 x 540 is low but not too bad.

    Andi & all,
Can someone find out if the screen is made of Gorilla glass ?

    Cheers!

As of now that is all I am waiting for. I know it kills all these zopo wannabes.

    Andi another request sorry.

Can you make an article for the china phones that provides support as in rom flashing and updating and which ones are best in the android community. Which ones have English support and other useful information.

I think this will help many customers as to which company’s product is best for them.

I can pop it on my list πŸ™‚

and what is the “bah-te-rrey” support, mAh etc. πŸ™‚

    • August 14, 2012

      I think it’s a 2300mAh (that’s without checking, but I’m sure it’s correct)

Well, i understand the resolution is very important, and more if the screen is bigger. But… Is it noticeable difference between qhd and hd in a cell phone screen????
I don’t find a clear answer in google :(, i read many books in my 4.3 inch screen (wvga) so if the resolution can improve mucho more (or be worse with bigger screens despite be qhd) could chose a better option.

Well we will see very soon when our test unit arrives

Yeah screen res is a let down on this and the price is too high, can buy a Mi One for $300 in china. What I want to know though is are the cameras on these Zopo, Amoi and similar handsets actually any good or just complete garbage?

Also what baffles me is how can the Jiyu G3 be rumored to be only $200 with the same cpu a proper 720p display? Yet this is so pricey. I’m thinking the Jiyu will be much more

@amby, just confirmed with zopomobile shop, it is Gorilla glass

Wonderful stuff! I wonder just how tough it wil be (reaching for my bag of nails and plank of wood)

Thanks Marco. Gorilla is good ! πŸ˜›

Also, lets not forget that 4.5 inch phones are more common (that tells me that either there are more manufacturers making a 4.5 inch screen or a few that can make millions of such screen quickly and cost effectively. That might be one of the reasons why Jiayu G3 is cheaper.) There are not too many models with a 5.3 inch screen.

2nd reason why Zopo is more expensive than Jiayu is purely the brand name. While Zopo is not an international name (yet), its starting to have a decent presence in Chinese market, with several physical stores (going by the name : Zopo Experience). That increasingly-becoming-more-and-more-famous brand name may have encouraged Zopo to keep the price for ZP900, lets say, not so low. Besides, lets not forget, ZP300 was also a $299.00 phone (on Zopomobileshop) in July and now its $269.00. I can guarantee everyone that if someone waits for a month after ZP900 is released, not only we’ll be getting it for cheaper price, all the new releases in late August (both in China and internationally – Lets not forget iFA Berlin, 31 August ) and September will give us even more options (and yes, will end up confusing us even more πŸ˜› )

    Cheers!

Gorilla is GOOD! I wonder if Zopo will mind me taking a knife or sharp blade to the review unit of the Zopo Zp900 Leader they are sending over?

    August 14, 2012

    Andi,
    Zopo is sending you a ZP900 review unit ?? !!! You lucky $%&$ ! πŸ™‚
If that does happen, I want you to make a long (very long) review video (DIY !) and put it up for your followers here. Will be pretty much 1st ever for ZP900 (hurry, beat other sites !). Cant wait to see this phone in the flesh (well, on my laptop screen 1st). A video review will also help potential buyers understand what the given resolution means on a 5.3 incher, how the cameras are etc.

Make it happen dude !! πŸ™‚

    • August 15, 2012

That’s what they say and a little bird told me that a JiaYu G3 and Newman N1 will be at my office in 2-3 weeks also πŸ™‚

    Hi Andi,

Found something interesting/strange on the home-page of Zopo’s official site (not zopomobileshop) (had to translate the stuff)… Apparently, there are 2 variants of ZP900.
    1. Elite Edition : Yuan 1699.00
    2. Premium Edition / GLS : Yuan 1999.00

Also, looks like they have 1GB and 512 MB RAM options (I guess that is the difference between the above mentioned editions). Can you please find out what’s going on? The homepage “moving screen” (and not the detailed product section) for ZP900 also mentions something about “268 something” and “218 something” written in red color in Chinese. Some more info on what this is talking about would be great since this seems to be another difference between the expensive and the cheaper variant.

    Thanks,
    Amby

It seems a few companies are trying this. Bluebo also have 2 models with different RAM and different resolution screens. I’ll take a look at it.

Yeah, but to be honest they haven’t covered much in the review. We are expecting a longer, much detailed, explanation based ( not mute like theirs) review from you that also covers antutu benchmarking, all version and build details, both camera demo, HD video playback, gorilla glass molestation ( :p ) and all other kool things u can think of…

    • August 22, 2012

Don’t worry Zopo told me that my review unit will be on the way today (which means tomorrow here;) ) so I can start soon. Oh and it will be up for grabs and yes international readers can win too!
