Xiaomi Box preorders begin today at 10am!


Popular Beijing based phone maker, Xiaomi, will relaunch their much anticipated Xiaomi Box Android TV later this morning with pricing starting at just 299 Yuan ($48).

Xiaomi originally launched the Xiaomi Box late last year, but due to licencing issues with the content the Android powered set top box could show, Xiaomi’s content delevery service was canceled and left the stealthy box useless. Those issues have been fixed this time though and the device is going back on sale.

Pre-orders will begin at 10am (Beijing time) through Xiaomi’s official online store. The first batch will go on sale for 299 Yuan with remote control, with later batches expected to raise in price to 399 Yuan ($64).

Running a modified version of Android (not Google TV), the Xiaomi box can be used to stream content and games to HD TV’s. The device can be controlled with the supplied remote or Android app, and is even compatible with Apple’s Airplay.

    I will always prefer the stick form factor which will stay in the HDMI TV connector.
    The new quad-cores will be in stores next month. I will wait.

    I have to get one! Can we use it outside China in other languages? Will try to get one after the preorders.

    iam gonna buy it but dont you if they will update English Language UI
    please let me know
    should i buy from xiaomi.com or wait or buy from other sites claiming that it has english interface
