Neo N003 first hands on video!

Remember the Neo N003 aka the worlds cheapest 5-inch 1080 phone? We’ll here is the first ever hands on with a prototype version of the handset!

In a marketing point of view Neo are more sensible than their rival. They have kept quiet about the flagship N003, leaking only tasty morsels here and there, and haven’t made any outlandish claims or broken any release date promises, which makes the appearance of this Neo N003 hands on video all the more exciting!

In their forum posting, where this video was originally posted, Neo are quick to point out that the phone in the video is a preproduction device and the debugging is ongoing, which explains some apparent touch screen issues, a low 11,776 Antutu score and rather small application icons.

Despite the lagging performance now and then, the Neo N003 does look rather good. OTG is working and can be seen in the video with a wireless mouse demonstration, we also get to see how it handles playing 1080hd video and games to a flat screen TV!

Gizchina News of the week

As for the phone itself, the video doesn’t give us a very close look at the exterior but we do get to see that the body is rather thick and is comprised of a white plastic rear which wraps around the an all black face. On the inside we can see places for dual-sim cards, an SD card and the large 3000mAh battery.

Looks a bit different than expected after having seen the concept renders and the leaked hands on pics. Maybe it’s just missing the metal band around side as this is a “preproduction device” – wonder if that will still get added.

Not necessarily depends the chip, depending on the model if they have “prepared” or not for these conetions

That is rather impressive. Hopefully the retail version will look like the designs they earlier showed us. I am confused about OTG and MHL, shouldn’t that depend on the chipset? So all MT6589s should support OTG and MHL. Someone shed light on this for me please.

Thanks for the reply Aditya. So, does this mean compatibility with MHL depend only on software on MT6589 phones?
