Removing the rear stainless steel panel, which is held in place with a neat switch, reveals even more stainless steel on the inside, plus the 2000mAh battery, dual SIM areas and space for an SD memory card.

It’s hard not to be impressed with the attention to detail on this phone, and it is by far the highest quality Chinese phone we have every had the pleasure to hold!

Specifications are top-notch also with a 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and 32GB of built-in memory.

NOTE: I don’t know what happened to the sound, but am fixing this now.

JiaYu confirmed that the G5 will go on sale later this month (September). Pricing hasn’t been set but it is certain to be slightly more expensive than the top of the range JiaYu G4 Advanced.

    Only in white?
Or will there be a black version also?

    More then G4 ? +300$ ? G4 advanced still not easy to get at a decent price…

Do ppl buy 4.5 inch display phones any more ? JiaYu would have been better off with a 4.7 inch display..and of course a bigger battery and OIS camera would bring eye balls to this..

Yes, there is a huge demand for high end phones with snake displays.

    • September 19, 2013

I have been searching endlessly for a dual sim phone with these specs and price. Dont know about you but though 5″ screens are good to look at, they are a real stretch for most people who appreciate single handed operation. I got the Zopo C2 platinum and i’m slightly annoyed so this phone will be perfect. Plus smaller screen and resolution will be more sparing on 2000mah battery than my zopo C2 platinum.

I too have the Zopo C2 and thinking about buying this one.
The C2 has great screen and specs, but … just a little too big, now that I’ve used it for some time…
I’ll stick with 4.5-4.7″ as perfect size screens.
Single hand operation should be better.

A Phone that i like because its small and fits in my poket easily BUT i think black/white and silver do look ugly! They should had taken more inspiracion from the Iphone 5!!
Also i think it would be nice if there would be a Snapdragon 600 variant of the Phone!
    With best regards

I want this phone now!!! It’s supppeeerrrbbb — iphone design and android functions not clone just inspiration from apple. Lots of companies using other manufactures inspiration it is not sin this is step forward helping do thing better. Cloning is thing for companies like Goophone or HDC etc. Here we have perfect job of Jiayu engineers! If phone will go on market soon without 2 versions – I mean advanced and youth will be even better (do you know something about it Andi?) Spec 32GB + 2GB RAM and quad core is like dream and not too big screen 4.5 inch — PERFECTO !!!

  7. September 18, 2013

Well it is official now, Apple can not make 4.5 inch iPhone with curves like iPhone 5 and 5S, as they will be copying Jiayu. If the price is right under 200$ it can be a good seller.

    Hi Andi,

Did You ask any questions of 3G frequences / 4G? Any informations of 900Mhz WCDMA. I know that example in Spain they are also waiting this frequency.

Can’t give top marks for styling but use of stainless steel is welcome.
Metal dissipate heat much better than plastic and should minimise any overheating problems that we have heard about with some phones

      But, will it bend?

    • September 18, 2013

Agreed, it isn’t the best looking but it is very very well made

        hi,
doesn’t a stainless steel body affect WiFi function?

Wow can that phone be any thicker it looks like you’re holding a brick. Also, the bezels are insanely thick.

    • September 19, 2013

What??? compared to which china phone and at what price? the phone dimensions seem normal. Nothing “huge” about the bezels….go look at lumia if your interested in shouting about bezels.

hopefully they get better working GPS than on G3S or G4 ,…

    • Peter
      September 19, 2013

Because why, if it’s the same chipset…

      • September 21, 2013

Because better antenna? I am speculating here, but maybe a better antenna can compensate for lackluster GPS chip

      • Cmoegele
        September 22, 2013

Its not a porblem of the chipset more antenna and firmware,… I modified my G3S with selfmade copper wire “antenna” And now getting ways better satfix + accuracy. and I have a G2H with good GPS, so I think Jy has/had? the knowledge for doing better

Hello cmoegele I have jiayu g5s. And the GPS is awful. It never finds me. Can you tell me how can I make copper antenna?

            September 28, 2014

My friend with this metall housing its a big problem. Once the mainboard of my G3s stuck sometimes on boot, I replaced it against the G3T which had better GPS from scratch ) not perfect, but quite better. Meanwhile I have the HTC Dualsim 802w and it also has metal housing, but the HTC guys did integrate the antennas in the removable backcover (really professional solution ) It needs a lot of effort and knowhow to improve GPS especially at your nice G5S. So I think better solution would be to use an external GPS mouse (bluetooth, Nokia,…) It even helps saving battery consumption,…

Hello Christian. Thank you for your repley .i will try to improve the GPS antenna my self, yes there is a lot of metal in this phone! I don’t know about external GPS. If I can’t make it I will buy another phone. I haven’t figure out yet where is my GPS antenna https://www.gizchina.com/2013/09/24/jiayu-g5-teardown/

    Very good.
I’m a G4 fan for the battery, but I could wait some more for this.
Hey Andi, as you are in touch with Felix, can you remind him about my request to know SAR value of G4? Well, maybe you can ask also about G5…

    Many thanks!

WTF is wrong with Jiayu – saving 0.01$ for lighting buttons?!

like most jiayu phones, to be overpriced for an MTK phone and not much special. now they ruin the design by cloning that other ridiculously overpriced brand, too.

I really like my first Jiayu G2, but I decided a bigger screen would be better. I wish they would make a phone a bit bigger. I like the 5.5″ screen, not to big, but so much easier to see.
