Top Xiaomi Redmi Note Alternatives

redmi note

Measuring in at 5.5-inch with octacore processor, 13 mega-pixel camera and MIUI V5, there are only a few phones which can match the Xiaomi Redmi Note on price and specifications. Here are our top Xiaomi Redmi Note alternatives.

What makes a good Redmi Note Alternative

To be considered a good alternative to the Xiaomi Redmi Note phones should have at least the following hardware specifications;

  • Large display
  • Octacore processor
  • At least 1GB RAM
  • Large battery

We also want to see good camera hardware, a design which is at least as good as the Redimi’s, if not better and all at an affordable low-cost.

Huawei Honor 3X

Huawei Honor 3X

The Huawei Honor 3X is a solid competitor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note. The 3X comes equipped with a similar 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, the same 1.7Ghz Octacore processor and can be had with either 1GB or 2GB RAM. A 3000mAh battery ensures plenty of battery life and a 13 mega-pixel rear and 5 mega-pixel front camera are more than enough to keep the Redmi Note honest.

TCL Meme Da

tcl meme

TCL designed the TCL Meme Da to not only offer similar level of hardware as the Xiaomi Redmi Note, but also look better and feel more comfortable in the hand thanks to a thinner body. Thought the TCL Meme Da is thinner than the Redmi Note, the battery is actually a larger 3300mAh cell.

Again the display is a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 panel, there is an octacore Mediatek processor, 1GB RAM and a 13 mega-pixel rear camera while the front is an 8 mega-pixel sensor. Pricing in China is just 778 Yuan.

Lenovo S898T

lenovo s898t

Lenovo have launched 2 models of their Lenovo S898T. Customers in China can choose between either a 1GB RAM 8GB memory model or 2GB RAM 16GB memory version, however both models run the 1.4Ghz octacore MT6592 processor rather than a 1.7Ghz.

Gizchina News of the week

The OGS display on the Lenovo is slightly smaller than the others here at 5.3-inch, but still big enough to mix it with the rest of the phones on the list. Other features include a 5 mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear and larger 3200mAh battery all in a body just 7.9mm thick!

Meizu Blue Charm

The Meizu Blue Charm is a long time rumour which finally appears to be coming true. The most recent details being an official looking teaser which claims the new phone will have a 5.5-inch display, and octacore processor. Being a Meizu it is safe to assume the Meizu Blue Charm will run their own Flyme OS ROM and be as attractive as current Meizu devices.

Doogee dagger

doogee dagger 550

The DooGee Dagger is what the iNew V3 would look like if it had been given a larger 5.5-inch display. Doogee only made details of the Dagger known for the first time yesterday which include a 5.5-inch panel and octacore chipset. Doogee have already confirmed their range will be available internationally, and pricing for the new phone is believed to be just $180!

Haier IG70

haier redmi note alternative

Not normally a brand we speak about much on GizChina, but being the first octacore Haier phone to go on sale has got to be worth a place in this Redmi Note alternatives list. Unlike the other phones, the Haier I970 is a 6-inch 1280 x 720 phone and rather than plastic Haier have opted for metal in the construction of the phablet.

From leaked Tenaa details the Haier IG70 will get a 1.7Ghz octacore chipset, and 2GB RAM. Other details and pricing are not known.

Top Xiaomi Redmi Note Alternatives

The above alternatives either offer slightly better camera hardware, larger battery or a thinner body when compare against the Xiaomi Redmi Note, but do you think you would be tempted by any of the above over the MIUI equipped budget phablet?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note is only officially available in certain countries in Aisa, however international fans can order the phone through reseller Xiaomi World from $239.99.

I am considering xiaomi because the accessories and to have an android at least a bit different from the rest I known. But I am waiting the review :P, if it’s not so different from the cheaper red rice I would choose that because a more comfortable size (I already have a tablet)

Andi your lists always have issues.
“To be considered a good alternative to the Xiaomi Redmi Note phones should have at least the following
    hardware specifications;
    Large display
    Octacore processor
    At least 1GB RAM
    Large battery”
Yet you have no idea what battery is in the meizu, doogee, and haier. You are also aware ” an affordable low-cost.” and Haier can’t be in the same sentence, but you put it anyway. And isn’t the Huawei 3C the cheap one? Finally, the TCL and Lenovo aren’t even WCDMA,what does that leave us with?
Can’t get a Xiaomi at its retail price so maybe the whole list was predetermined to be of “phones that can’t be bought anywhere near their price or work outside china”

      3C isn’t octacore.
I don’t understand what you mean about Haier, they generally make cheap phones.
TCL and Lenovo aren’t WCDMA yet but at least we are now aware we should keep our eyes open.
I’ve listed the international Redmi Note price from resellers.
It’s a list of “Redmi Note Alternatives” nothing more nothing less.

Thanks as always for your comments on my lists 😉

Haier have terrible hardware/price ratio even though they make cheap phones. So for similar hardware it’ll surely cost more than the redmi. Its why they don’t make your news 😉
The meizu isn’t even for certain, might have been an april fools you know…
Yes 3C isn’t octacore but its the one with redmi price, unless I’m remembering wrong but the 3X costs more than the redmi. Alternatives should be cheaper or similar price 😛
Nice list all the same,am now watching the TCL very closely.

Yep, 3X still cost 1698 yuan and it’s not dropping in price (the “3X” for 998 yuan that is TD-SCDMA only and using the 1.4 GHz 6592V is called 荣耀畅玩版 which google translates into “Glory smooth play version”…)

Also the only Honor version that can be had in 1GB or 2GB version is the 3C (for TD-SCDMA).

Where can I buy the S898T with MT6592 and 2GB/16GB?

The only S898T which is actually on sale in China is running MT6589 and is 1GB/8GB.

EDIT: The picture is NOT for S898T but for the “Lenovo Golden Warrior S8” phone. That one will have two editions.
