UMi release full specifications of the UMi Fair, say it will “Kill” the Xiaomi Redmi

umi fair

UMi have released full specifications of their new low-cost UMi Fair model, the phone which they believe will bring the Redmi line to its knees.

Full specifications of the UMi Fair have been formally announced and they look good if the price is in fact fair once it launches. Rumours are the phone will go on sale for as little as $99, but is that enough money for a decent entry-level phone? Read the specs below and let us know what you think.

Gizchina News of the week

Official UMi Fair specifications include a 5-inch HD display, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, Mediatek MT6735 chipset, 2 mega-pixel front camera, 8 mega-pixel Sony rear camera, 2250Ah battery, fingerprint scanner and all alloy CNC machined chassis.

The specs look about right for an entry-level phone with the highlights being the alloy chassis and fingerprint scanner. I suppose what it really comes down to is how well made the UMi Fair will be and how well optimised the Android OS is once released.

    Fingerprint scanner on a $99 phone is just a gimmick, I wonder how well or badly it will perform, should have just provided an extra gig of RAM and 8 gigs more storage in place of the gimmicky fingerprint scanner.

    I just got a Blackview Alfie P1 Pro.
    It’s my first experience with mt6735 which is sheet.
    I thought it will be similar with my Elephone P6000 with mt6732 but I was wrong.
    I’m gonna post a review of the blackview alfie P1 pro soon.

      The 6735 is a slightly lower powered version of the 6732, it is a great budget SoC however especially when it comes to battery life. I used it one phone and the difference between that and the 6732 was negligible at best. Your problem is probably with the Blackview ROM itself.

    It’s a decent phone but it will never even touch the Redmi 2.

    If asian people pronounce “R” like “L” then:
    Fair = Fail
    So, with those specs i’m pretty accurate.
