Android 7.0 Nougat now seeding for the UMi Plus!

After weeks of beta testing, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is finally rolling out for the UMi Plus and will be available to all devices within 24 hours. A very important refresh for the recently launched Helio P10-equipped smartphone.

UMi Plus Android 7.0 Nougat

The closed beta was actually released some months back and was shared with few hand-picked users in order to debug it together, with their feedback and suggestions to give the best user experience. Weeks later, UMi decided to open the beta software to all users (you had to flash it yourself), who also helped finalizing optimization.

UMi had promised to roll out the Nougat update before Christmas and so they did today, with their announcement. You can consider this as their early Christmas gift.

Among the other features, Android N will bring the latest optimizations (and security updates) to the Plus. Here a few things you will find inĀ the new update:

  • Vulkan API support for enhanced 3D graphics;
  • Customizable quick settings menu and direct reply through message notifications;
  • Multi-Window view and quick switch between apps;
  • More than 1500 emojis and multi-locale settings.

Before applying the OTA, make sure to make a backup of your data, since it’s a major update. When you will update:

  • All the quick settings that you had set up before will be removed;
  • Fingerprint ID will be removed, so you need to set it up again.

UMi also promised an Android 7 update on the Super and Max as well and they confirm they’ll be coming out this month, thus more positive news for UMi users.

    Will really consider UMI as the next device. Many Chinese phone manufacturers simply roll out phones like M & Ms and they don’t update their software. If someone will update their phone software as well as manufacture phone, they will have great success. I also suggest that they don’t have too many models but improve present models and upgrade present models. One Plus manufacturer gets it as well.

      Agreed. If UMI would start using somewhat decent digitizers on their phones, I think a lot more people would consider buying from them.

      I think Lenovo/Moto/ZUK brand is far better then UMI. As You can see for example the Zuk Z2 with Snapdragon 820, 4/64GB, fingerprint with U-Touch and really good cameras (selfie is awesome and 8MPixel) is now 175-178USD on Aliexpress and You can get it for 210USD in EU (includeing VAT and Customs, with 2 Year warranty in EU).

      UMI is not a good brand, have tested a lot devices from them and camera optimization is really bad. The OS is glitchy and has some major bugs. The ROMs are “made” by device owners reports, not by UMI developers itself.

      Asus make lot better devices also, but their support side is really weak. Not recommended at all.

      Xiaomi is now opening kernels and update their devices for newer android OS a bit faster. They are also opening to the whole world with International version devices, where LTE bands are unlocked. Their pricetags are a bit high at the midrange, and too high at flagship devices.

      Zopo is like a Ghost. Cubot is a crap. Homtom/Doogee/Leagoo are bad at materials and does not give a sh*t for support. Vernee is too new and making mistakes in every device. And so on…

      I highly recommend Xiaomi, Lenovo in the mid and highend range. Samsung and iPhone for rich people. But buying Elephone, Zopo, UMI and such crap brands… NO!

      Edit.: You are really-really gorgeus and beautiful girl! *-*

      OnePlus is really great at support side and price/performance rate. šŸ™‚
