Xiaomi, the makers of the bargain priced M1 Android smartphone, have decided to release their customized version of Android Gingerbread open source.

The current open source version of Xiaomi’s OS is based on Android Gingerbread 2.3.7, but it is expected that they will release the Android 4.0.1 Ice-cream Sandwich ROM code soon.
