JiaYu are on form this week! We have heard
news and photos for their up coming MT6589 phones, and now we have just got our first look at the flagship,
Snapdragon powered JiaYu
S1!
The
JiaYu S1 represents a
new direction for JiaYu from both a technical stand-point and as a brand. Last year the company were known for the infamous G3 and low-cost, great performing G2 and G2S, but it appears they have
new ambitions.
The
JiaYu S1 will be the companies first non Mediatek equipped
phone, but more than this, one which could take on the likes of Xiaomi in the value packed high specification market.
Images released on the
JiaYu forum show a
prototype version of the
S1 alongside the current dual-core G3, along with the disclaimer that the
phone's appearance is subject to change. That's a very good thing as the
prototype appears to be a little on the thick side and is hardly as attractive as the JiaYu
G4.
What is attractive though are the
specs which, again according the
JiaYu forum, will include a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 1.5Ghz Quad-core CPU,
2GB RAM,
32GB built-in memory, Adreno 320 graphics and a 5-inch
1080 display with a PPi of 440+.
The
JiaYu S1 project will be winding down over the next few days due to the Chinese
New Year, so don't expect the
new phone to launch before the
G4. As for prices, we are pretty certain they will be around the 2000 Yuan ($320) mark!
