Hi Andi. I would like to know why you didn’t consider buying the turbo version of the umi x2. I think that the upgraded mtk6589 chip will render the 1080p screen much smoother via the jellybean OS and as well as application lags. I also think that most 1080p phones shouldn’t be released with under 1.5Ghz processors or it won’t be stable or reliable. Well Andi this is just my opinion and I look forward to reading yours. Thank you.

I dont think that 300 MHz more on the cores will matter very much on the performanceside. The frequency change in terms of the GPU might matter a little more, but since the core architecture of the MTK6589 and MTK6589T is the same, you will pay for the additional performance with less battery runtime.

In the end it comes down to your personal preference: Can you live with a little less performance or are you willing to sacrifice some battery runtime for a bit more power under the hood. Theres not much more to discuss about this topic, Id say πŸ˜‰

well i can definitely live with less battery power in exchange for for more power under the hood. I think that their should be bigger capacity batteries later on just in case i need more power. On the other hand your totally right. Its either more battery power via the 1.2ghz version or more power with the 1.5ghz version. MORE POWER PLEASE :-).. Thanks for your opinion Georg. If there are any phones you recommend that are similar to this , please share. I am an avid gamer and I can stand noticable lags in mobile OS. I can bear with just a very tiny lag.

Hi, I didn’t buy the UMi X2 it was sent to us by UMi for review. I really don’t understand why they sent this version, however after using it I can happily say that I am happy with the performance of the 1.2Ghz chip with 1GB RAM powering the 1080 display, but if you really are a big gamer the extra 1GB RAM might be worth it.

Thank you Andi. Just by you mentioning the gaming with the 2gb ram version, I am definitely going to purchase the phone. Im waiting and I hope the phone is as beautiful as i am expecting.
One more thing Andi. I live in New York and I would like to know if the phone will work here with 3g service? Thanks Andi in dvance and great job with your knowledge and contribution to helping and informing us gizchina surfers.

Hi Chris, would be wary. I don’t think this would work on your carriers in the States.

I’m still new to the whole chinese phone community thing, but I have to say I am quite impressed with the way the chinese manufacturers are jumping up in quality.
Although, I’m still unsure whether I should invest in one of these quad core chinese phones. The prices are too tempting though!

Would love to participate in promoting Gizchina. Thanks for keeping us up to date with all the news πŸ™‚

      Thanks mate, our pleasure πŸ™‚

Been a reader since long; I guess I was a reader since the start. Good to see GizChina grow so rapidly. It still is among the only sources of the Chinese scene for the English-speaking world. Cheers πŸ™‚
The idea of a forum is good but I think it’d be better if GizChina had a separate full-fledged forum. And yes, guest posts are cool!

    • May 18, 2013

Thanks for the info. Still not sure what to do with the forum. If it takes off then it will certainly have to be it’s own thing! Cheers mate!

There is a great need of adjustment in the layout of things being displayed there. A bit of attractiveness will do the needful. You can make moderators to different sections in there who can post and manage the things there and can maintain the flow.

      • May 18, 2013

Cheers Andi. I’m sure it’ll be a popular forum.

Andi, the way the website has emerged out in my life is spectacular. I, being a techbuff and computer science graduate, have always been very keen in getting the knowledge of the stuff that is being build in China because they have the potential to replicate high priced products into affordable ones and doing a service of mankind by spreading the technology in every hand πŸ™‚ .

Your and your teammates’ effort is greatly appreciable in any regard. More than 6 months have passed since I’m following Gizchina and there is no day when i don’t visit it. I can forget to log in to facebook but Gizchina is simply irresistible.

It would be really great if i can be a part (as i already have taken part in a tech writer recruitment in Gizchina, few months ago πŸ˜‰ )

      Great Job! Damn you guys!

Hah, I’m in the same situation as you :p It’s thanks to Gizchina that I became interested in Chinese smartphones. I even don’t care that much anymore for the big brands smartphones.

How does guest posting work, to avoid spamming? Manual moderation?

    • May 18, 2013

You would contact us with your idea, if we agree on it you would submit it and we would edit it (if it needed to be edited) then done.

I follow all the articles. Andi and team are great. I am true follower of technology and not Brands. I feel technologically advance product is always going to give better price and performance then Brand. I will like Andi n team to not only compare the leading Chinese phones but also periodically compare so called big brand phones with leading Chinese phones.

Cheers and keep the goodies rolling.

Dear Andi and all the troupe at Gizchina, you guys rock!!!
I have been interested in china’s tech for some time and only decided to buy my Jiayu G3 after you guys started talking about it last year…
since then I have been recommending this site to all my English reading friends and have also helped several friends here in Brazil to buy Chinese phones and tablets…
thanks to your details and comparisons I have been able to divert friends from consuming expensive brands and overpriced phones in the Brazilian market and buying great stuff thru Aliexpress and other int’l outlets in china…
can’t wait to read the guest posts from avid collaborators all over the world…
    keep up the great job!!!
