Rumour – Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to arrive in October?

Rumours of the next version of Android have sprung up again stating that we could see an Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release this October!

Most Android fans expected Google to announced, or at least mention, the new version of Android at Google I/O last month however the search giant failed to do so. And while we believed that Google would release Android 4.3 ahead of 5.0, the rumours just won’t keep at bay!

Gizchina News of the week

According to sources Key Lime Pie will be the most optimised version of the Android operating system to date and will require just 512mb RAM to run! In theory this would mean almost all Android devices should be able to run the latest OS helping to keep everyone on the same page and avoiding fragmentation, IF manufacturers roll out updates that is!

We expect to see the Nexus 5 to be the first Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie phone on the market later this year.

There is only one small issue, almost no manufacturer will release updates for its phones, they’d rather have you buy a new phone.

Looking forward to it, but also worried the Chinese handset makers will drag their feet supplying legacy phones with updated code.

Damn those Nexus phones. How come Google subsidizes it for America while making profits around the world, and then lets LG charge 460 USD in my country?
I wish those Shenzhen companies would work on the Key Lime Pie code quicker than Samsung or the Japanese. Maybe even hire those Cyanogen or XDA guys.

But having checked again 4.3 will still be Jelly Bean.

I don’t have high hopes of 5.0 being inside any of the Chinese phones by early 2014 even if it rolls out in October.
Not to mention Tablets… they are mostly still on 4.1…

As for the updates i hope some will update their newer devices, at least those that are known to have good support, like Zopo and etc.
If not I am sure brands with good community will provide with custom roms for the most popular and newest phones on sale now.
