UMi Cross NFC packaging and NFC tags leaked

4 days from now UMi will launch the NFC equipped version of the UMi Cross phablet, leaked photos show a new box designa and included NFC tags!

Gizchina News of the week

The next version of the UMi Cross phablet will ship with NFC support which brings some interesting possibilities to the large screen Android phablet. In addition to built-in NFC the phabelt will ship with at least 1 NFC tag and come in a slightly redesigned (and Xiaomi inspired) plain cardboard box.

While NFC is a nice touch we are more interested to find out if the Cross gets any sort of optimisation as the current version of the quad-core, 1080 phablet tends to struggles while gaming.

Lack of 8 core MTK6592 processor on upgraded UMI Cross is very disappointing. In September they advertise UMI Cross with NFC functionality, but the preliminary version did not have it.

Now, they are upgarding the product with NFC, but god knows this time what will be missing. Maybe OTA or MHL.

So, they not only altered the customer trust to UMI brand, but also disappointed potantial buyers by not using MTK6592, while the market is being flooded with 8 core smartphones.

It is much better to wait for another brand to unveil 8 core 6″ smartphone in 2014.

Will these work with the mifare classic? I’ve been looking around and apparently it isn’t compatible with the newer ‘brand’ phones such as Galaxy S 4.
