Xiaomi report revenues of $4.9m/month from MIUI-based services


Xiaomi have been selling phones at near-production cost for a while now. However, the revenues the upcoming Chinese maker manages to rake in regardless might manage to stagger you.

Not long ago, Xiaomi revealed that there are more than 30 million active users of the MIUI ROM. MIUI (pronounced “me-you-eye“) is Xiaomi’s own take on the Android OS, where they include various features and apps not found in vanilla Android. MIUI developers maintain ROMs for various devices including non-Xiaomi ones. In return, MIUI users make purchases on Xiaomi’s ecosystem that includes services of a theme, app, book and game store among others.

Although the profit from the aforementioned services comes predominantly from their homeland of China, Xiaomi have still managed to secure profits to the tune of $4.9 million/month which is bound to grow with time and recognition.
