ARCHOS CES Showing to Feature “Smart Home” System

French device manufacturer ARCHOS is set to make a big splash next week when it reveals multiple devices designed to bring you into the Jetson-esque future you were promised as a child.

No, they aren’t selling flying cars, or robots that clean up after you, or even sandwiches in pill form. Instead ARCHOS is planning on announcing several devices at once aimed at making your house a completely automated and connected to itself and you. It is all a part of ARCHOS’ CES showcase featuring its Smart Home System.

Through the use of its application and an Android device or (as ARCHOS would prefer it) a special ARCHOS designed 7″ tablet, the upcoming system will turn on lights automatically for you, act as a security system with motion activated cameras, tell you the weather inside and outside of your house, monitor CO2 levels and a slew of other activities. Smart Home will also act as an all in one health and wellness system, measuring fitness activities, heart rate, blood pressure and weight through connected devices and storing it all in one place.

Gizchina News of the week

Spec wise the 7″ tablet is far from impressive, featuring a 1024×600 screen, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of on device storage. But ARCHOS isn’t expecting you to play graphic intensive games on its tablet, its hope is that you will be using the device to monitor your health and home.

The devices are expected to debut at the upcoming CES in Las Vegas on January 7th.
