Update! Xiaomi Hongmi 2 could get 4G LTE after all or maybe not!


Xiaomi are on the cusp of launch of the, long over due, Xiaomi Hongmi 2 and chance of 4G LTE support are getting better.

Previously it was believed that the next generation Xiaomi Hongmi 2 would be kitted out with a 5.5-inch display and octacore MT6592 chipset courtesy of Meidatek. For 799 Yuan this sounds like quite a phone to behold, but those specs may have changed.

After the recent update for the original Hongmi to a Qualcomm processor, it is no believed that the Hongmi 2 will benefit from a Snapdragon chipset. The SoC in question is like the Qualcomm MSM8928 which would aloo the phone to work on WCDMA, GSM and 4G LTE networks!

Update: Just moments after posting this news further details have emerged! Contradicting the possibililty of 4G LTE in the Hongmi 2 sources at Wingtech (the company producing the Hongmi) say the new phone is being manufactured now and will NOT have 4G LTE. According to these new rumours there will be 2 version of the new Hongmi with the high end version having a 2.3Ghz MT6592T octacore processor!

We could certainly be interested in a 799 Yuan Xiaomi Hongmi 2 with 5.5-inch display and 4G LTE! What about you?

    For me HSPA+ is not bad as long as your ISP offers fast and reliable connection 🙂

    i would rather have 4.3inch or 4.7inch screen…who needs such big battery consuming screens?

      I think a 5 inch screen would be nice. But it would have to have a very thin edge. The 4000mAh battery would be ideal. I don’t mind that the phone is tick. No use having a thin body and the battery doesn’t last a whole day.
