China’s knock off makers have targeted Samsung’s Galaxy Gear with a metal bodied Linux smartwatch.

This clone of the Samsung Galaxy Gear watch is called the PW305, and is currently undergoing testing in China. The device is Linux rather than Android based, but like most similar devices needs a smartphone to connect to to make use of all the functions. Those functions include syncing to your contacts, showing notifications and even a handy alarm which will go off if you manage to leave your phone somewhere.

Great device! It is a most needed thing with a increasing size (screen size) of the mobile devices. Waiting to see the price range of such devices (hoping that will be at <70$, expensive things we have from expensive brands :-). )

Found it on aliexpress for 210$, but no way I’m spending three figure dollars on something like this. If they manage to sell these for around 80-90$ I’ll buy one asap..
