Xiaomi India website goes live prior to launch

Xiaomi earlier made clear that the company was working on an Indian launch. After recruiting Manu Kumar Jain to head the operations in India, the young Chinese manufacturer has launched its own website, a telltale sign that with each day, we’re closing in on an official India launch.

First spotted by AndroidOS.in, the website is pretty much a WIP, and in a very clichéd manner, greets you with a picture of nothing but the Taj Mahal. With the festive season in India due right after the impending monsoon, one can’t help but imagine Xiaomi are looking to cash in on the Diwali bonanza. At this moment, the website merely links back to the official Xiaomi page for India, allowing users to ‘show support’ by liking the Facebook page.

Xiaomi is expected to launch an array of its phones in India, including the Xiaomi Redmi series, and the flagship Mi series, which is at the moment headed by the Mi3 (something which should change soon). It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi’s freemium marketing model works in India as well as it does back in China.
